Giving of Your Best - In Business!
Posted On 14/05/2009 09:02:49 by MichelleHayward
Women and men who want to offer ....OUTSTANDING Service to their clientele...

In spending 9 months building our second dream home we received really shabby service! In fact, if I'm honest, it was really really far worse than shabby - it was a very negative, depressing environment and situation for my family and I to endure! What's my point? I'll get to it quickly!

Going through the harsh treatment that the builder unleashed upon us, as well having some bad experiences with his contractors, left us feeling quite dismal about the whole thing; I was at the point where I didn't want my house any more. Then, in going out into the world and purchasing various items, much of the service we received (or lack there of) left us cold aswell, to the point where we looked at each other and said "We would never treat our customers like this!" It leaves you wondering how they end up with any customers at all... and why they are in the business of 'serving' if they truly have no passion for it. I think this is where the problem lies, people lack passion for what they do! Remember the old saying "Love your job and you'll never have to work a day in your life!"

It became our mission statement to give great service EVERY TIME! We realised very quickly that this bad attitude wasn't for us. We want to treat others the way we like to be treated.

While our builder may enjoy a healthy bank balance (maybe?) he certainly doesn't enjoy a good reputation (we discovered this along the way - too late, we had signed a contract and were locked in - it would have cost us more money to get out of it than to actually build the house. So we were forced to suck it up and get on with it!) Of course it doesn't end there - we have moved in and we still have problems!

This dreadful situation lead us on a quest! We started looking for like-minded business people who wanted to serve and save. By that I mean, they wanted to 'serve their customers and save them grief, time and energy, and in many cases money as well!' Through this quest we began networking through many facets of Social Media.

I wanted to share with you what I have learned.

In plugging into some wonderful sites I have locked onto some amazing people who are in the business of providing outstanding service and are interested in their clientele. I have discovered that in giving, I have also been the recipient of much Social Media love. There has been much sharing and swapping of information, tips and hints, links and banners and an overall feeling of 'connecting'! It is as if there is a gravitational pull towards 'doing good toward men/women!'

So how did I locate this trend, and how do you, the business owner, tap into it too? I will provide you with some very helpful links here, for free! Why? Because with the benefit of research and many hours spent networking and sifting through the internet, I want to save you time so you can spend it with your family and building your business - it's something we all want to do and I want to be 'of service' to you! Maybe you are someone I can network with, a potential customer, a visitor to my site, or someone considering starting your own business. Great! Welcome aboard. Please grab your favourite drink and read on!

The following sites are ones I frequent regularly for a reason! What's the reason? Because I get the distinct impression these people are looking for and offering the same things I am as a business owner. I will also share with you what elements I employ inside my business to enhance opportunity and therefore create the foundations for success.

Worthy of note are the following sites that you can lock onto to network, advertise, connect, and grow with:-

http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/
http://www.businesswomenunite.net/
http://www.twitter.com/
http://www.facebook.com/
http://www.linkedin.com/

Creating your google profile is also a great way for people to be able to find you, as well as blogging about your business, your goals, your interests and providing links to other arenas people might find useful.

Businesses that I have discovered offering 100% commitment to clientele are:

http://www.yourcheekymonkey.com.au/ (Beautiful babywear)
http://www.pinwheelgirls.com/ (Inspiration for you)
http://www.loli-popkidswallart.webs.com/ (Art for all ages)
http://www.got2go.com.au/ (Car hire between Australia & New Zealand)

Notebook Magazine - full of great ideas, a far cry from the usual trashy tabloid we're used to seeing on the stands http://www.homehints.com.au/notebook/in+this+issue/

I have listed the links to the above businesses because I know they offer a high standard of excellence. I have also posted the business/networking links because in my experience they offer a good platform for connecting to the business world of like-minded people who want to enhance their growth as people and as entreprenuers! You can benefit from this.

My suggestion would be to join these sites and network with these wonderful people who have a lot to offer! When you join sites like http://celebratingwomen.ning.com and http://www.businesswomenunite.net/  you have the opportunity to set up a profile and 'meet' others on the boards who are simply inspiring.  It's about 'connecting and networking, blogging, writing articles, sharing tips and ideas and swapping links so it becomes a perpetual cycle for all - and after all Google loves those link ups!

I think it is also a measure of success when you can stand back and say I have done all I can do!
I have given, and I have received, and I am confident enough in myself to help others such that I do not feel like I am competing with them, I feel a solidarity and I am doing a good thing!

If I can help YOU don't hesitate to 'connect'!

Til next time
From our Home to Yours,
Michelle
